Her Story

As a child, Elizabeth was always curious about how things were made. That led her to her chosen design path. This curiosity and creativity drew her to complete an education in Product Design. Thereafter, she continued to hone her design skills by working as a spatial designer, specialising in Exhibitions and Interior Design. During this time, Elizabeth had a richer understanding of the different aspects of design. Even though she enjoyed designing, she felt stuck in the fast-paced industry and gathered her strength to deviate from the herd. Afterward, she joined a woodworking company as an intern and that reignite her passion for making objects.

Following love, she moved to Brisbane, Australia with her partner in 2017. It was a bold move for both of them – being in a foreign land was difficult and lonely. During her time as a spatial designer, she has learned about the psychology of space and how it can impact behaviour. To make the rental apartment feel more like home, she started searching for unique, timeless decorative objects. She found a peculiar sense of warmth evoked by ceramic pieces – learned that every piece of ceramic is a symbol of emotions and thought. That form of expressiveness aroused her curiosity to learn more about the craft so she enrolled in a pottery course in 2018. This was when she started using her hands to mold the mud into a storytelling object.

Her inquisitive mind would not let her stop there. She continued her exploration of different mediums, particularly recycled materials. She has witnessed firsthand the huge amount of waste corporate companies have generated. Being an eco-friendly designer, she challenged herself to incorporate these materials into her designs – giving them a new lease on life.

From the perspective of a designer, Elizabeth’s works are heavily influenced by her design philosophy. She believes that her design is more than just an object – it evokes a certain type of emotion – making the space more delightful.

Her Work

At Eli.C Studio, Elizabeth expresses herself by handcrafting unique pieces that portray her design style. Her works are often inspired by nature and are an experiment of shapes, colours, patterns and textures. Her creation is more than just an object, it evokes a sense of warmth and rawness - quality handcrafted pieces with a balance of artistic aesthetic of minimalism and sophistication. Every piece tells a story and it holds a part of her in the vessel.

Her Process

Elizabeth first sketch her ideas on paper before making a prototype. The intricacy of her designs and small details of each piece is down to a lot of love and frustration! Each item is individually handmade, 100% original and hand produced in her home studio located in Griffin, Queensland Australia.
